City of Poughkeepsie Administrator Milo Bunyi has announced that the city will hold a Real Property Tax Foreclosure Auction of approximately 30 properties on Thursday, April 3 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel, located at 40 Civic Center Plaza in Poughkeepsie, NY. This year’s auction will be conducted by the NYSAuctions.com Team of Haroff Auction & Realty, Inc. of Schroon Lake, NY and Absolute Auctions & Realty, Inc., of Pleasant Valley, NY.
All of the auction information, including the entire list of properties and a e-copy of the auction brochure, is available on the company’s website: www.NYSAuctions.com. The website is continually updated and provides detailed information on each property. A printed auction brochure is also available by visiting City Hall, or by calling 1-800-243-0061.
Anyone interested in buying at the auction is urged to attend the Bidder’s Seminar at the city’s Common Council Chambers on Tuesday, April 1 at 7PM with early bidder registration beginning at 6PM. This informative seminar is conducted by company representatives and is particularly useful for those attending the city auction for the first time. There is a general review of the auction’s “Terms and Conditions”, and useful tips are provided to help make the bidder a more informed buyer. The seminar is a great opportunity to learn and ask questions about the entire auction process. (An audio seminar link is on the web site now.)
Auction registration will be available at the conclusion of the Bidder’s Seminar and also on the morning of the auction starting at 9:00AM. Those wishing to bid at the auction must register and provide a photo ID and social security number before obtaining a bidding number. The deed will only be issued to the name that is on the registration, and ownership of the property is not conveyed until the deed is recorded by the Dutchess County Clerk.
Some of the properties in the auction will be made available to view, and the auction company will show those properties on Wednesday, April 2. The showing schedule will be released and posted on the company’s website on Saturday, March 29. The website address is www.NYSAuctions.com.
Successful bidders will be required to place a deposit of $1,000.00 or 20% of the total contract price (whichever is higher) at the auction. The deposit must be paid by credit card (Master Card, or VISA only), cash, bank teller’s/cashier’s check or money order. Any bank teller’s/cashier’s check or money order used for deposit must be made payable directly to City of Poughkeepsie Comptroller with no further endorsement. Business checks and personal checks will NOT be accepted. All properties are sold “as is” and officials suggest prospective bidders complete their research prior to bidding at the auction.
