The Walkway Half and Full Marathon and the Mid-Hudson Road Runners  Club Treetops to Rooftops 5K, is set to take place on Saturday, June 13, 2015 beginning at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  These races are marked by a series of firsts. It will be the first marathon and half marathon to utilize the Walkway Over the Hudson — the world’s longest and highest pedestrian bridge – as well as showcase the William R. The Walkway Marathon is also the first marathon in New York State to meet the “Pledge of Sustainability” criteria outlined by Athletes for a Fit Planet, an organization that ensures eco-friendly practices at road races, triathlons, and other endurance events.

More than 2,000 runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes are expected to compete in one of three flat, fast, USATF-certified races.

Event proceeds to benefit the Walkway Over the Hudson a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization committed to improving Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park by building amenities and providing programs to help this grand recreational and tourist attraction realize its full potential.
