The Recreation Administration is the administrative branch of the Recreation Department. It is managed by the Recreation Superintendent, a civil service appointment. The Recreation Superintendent administers the departmental subsection and recreation programs.

Spratt Park Pool
The Town of Poughkeepsie has partnered with the City of Poughkeepsie to run the pool at Spratt Park. Spratt Park Pool is located on Wilbur Boulevard just north of Christo’s Restaurant and the McCann Golf Course.
The pool season is June 25-August 21. Open Swim hours are 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM, Lap Swimming from Noon to 1 PM and from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
The Town reserves the right to close the pool during inclement weather and for unsanitary conditions.

Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons are held at Spratt Park Pool. There are eight, 45 minute classes per session. Class times are arranged by age. Abilities will be tested on the first day of the session and the learners put into classes according to ability levels.
New this year: Parent and Me Lessons and Adult Swim Lessons.
Our preschool swim lessons (ages 3-5) are now Parent and Me Lessons. Parents are REQUIRED to participate in the lesson with your child. The emphasis is teaching the parent to teach their child.
The Adult Swim Lessons are for 13+. The emphasis for non-swimmers will be to build comfort and confidence in the water that will allow a strengthening of swimming skills. For those who already swim, the emphasis will be on refining their strokes to make swimming a pleasure, not a chore.
Classes run rain or shine, there are NO makeup classes available.

The Free Lunch Program runs Monday, June 25 through Friday, August 19, weekdays only. (no lunches served on weekends)
Lunches typically arrive around 11:30am and are served while they last, on first-come, first-served basis.
