Police - Dutchess County Drug Task Force
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force was formed in 1989. It was a coalition of police agencies from Dutchess County. The Task Force was empowered to assist local Police Agencies with narcotic interdiction at the middle to upper levels of distribution. The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department has supported and participated in the Dutchess County Drug Task Force since the inception. In fact, Chief Ronald Knapp was the first commanding officer of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force is operated with the endorsement of Dutchess County Government and is administrated by District Attorney William Grady. The multi jurisdictional agency has developed many narcotic investigations that have resulted in arrest and conviction of major drug dealers in Dutchess County.
