City officials have released a draft of a new comprehensive plan and are seeking public feedback by April 18 before beginning the process of going before the Common Council for review and approval. The Common Council will also hold a public hearing to receive public comment during their review.
The city’s comprehensive plan defines the community’s vision for its future and translates that vision into priorities, strategies, policies and guidance for making decisions within City Hall and throughout the city.
The city is working with consultants czb LLC, in partnership with Ingalls Planning & Design on the project, which includes data analysis, public engagement, development of a comprehensive plan and updates to the zoning codes. The city named a steering committee of community leaders, conducted online surveys and held a series of open houses to gain valuable public input throughout the process, which began in June 2021.
Updating the city’s comprehensive plan is funded in part by the Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Grant Program, Title 15 of the Environmental Protection Fund through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
