City Begins Work on Pershing Park Improvements

Pershing Avenue Park Vertical

City officials are pleased to announce that that Pershing Avenue Park improvements started this week. The Department of Public Works will oversee the reconstruction of recreational facilities in the park. The work has been planned and funded in conjunction with New City Parks, Scenic Hudson, the Pershing PARKnership, Nubian Directions, and other community partners.
The improvements include:
• Resurfacing the basketball courts and replacing hoops and backboards
• New play equipment
• New benches and tables
• New solar lighting
• A new walking path in the North Meadow
These improvements are being made as the result of community input sessions in 2020 and 2021, during which residents were able to vote for different types of park improvements.
During construction, access to various parts of the park will be limited for safety reasons. The Pershing Community Farm will continue to be open and accessible throughout the project. Work is expected to be finished in the fall of 2022.
