The Common Council is looking for members of the public to serve on the city’s Poughkeepsie Salary Review Commission. Under the new City Charter, adopted by voter referendum in November 2016, there will be a Salary Review Commission every four years to make recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council regarding salaries for elected officials.
The Salary Review Commission includes seven members. Three are appointed by the Mayor, three are appointed by the Common Council, and one is elected by the members of the Commission at their first meeting, convened at the call of the Mayor.
The Commission will serve from March 1 through April 30 and shall report their recommendations to the Common Council no later than May 30.
The new salary levels will then be established by a majority vote of the Common Council.
